ICM plans & goals

Purpose/Mission

The mission of icanmath is to help students learn and teachers teach, by providing free, quality math resources for students and teachers around the world.

We're currently just getting started, but our primary goal for now is to provide content thoroughly covering the concepts that might be covered in any math course that a U.S. high school student might take. Our focus is not mainly on elementary school level math, middle school math, or any college-level courses beyond Introductory Statistics and Calculus 1.

I Can Math Goals

STAGE 1

[Goal: Finish by Dec. 2020]

(1) Outline every course, and for each lesson, provide links to math help videos on other websites explaining the related topic(s).

(2) Create video lessons for all of the topics under the "basics review" tab, and keep regularly posting videos on miscellaneous fun/interesting math topics.

STAGE 2

[Goal: Finish by Dec. 2022]

(1) Create our own video lessons, notes worksheets, and practice problem sets -- for every lesson of every course (and, keep regularly posting videos on miscellaneous fun/interesting math topics).

(2) Create a free worksheet generator app that can be used by teachers to create their own customized homework sets, quizzes, etc.

STAGE 3

[Goal: Finish by Dec. 2024]

(1) Make courses customizable, so teachers using ICM can choose exactly how in-depth they want to go for each unit/topic, meeting the needs of their specific curriculum, students, and time constraints.

(2) Create an app for students to use (where they can view the videos and practice problems specifically assigned by their teachers).

(3) Create a competing videos system where teachers from around the world can submit their own video lessons to be posted on icanmath, and where based on user ratings, the best videos for each lesson will rise to the top.

STAGE 4

[Goal: Finish by Dec. 2025]

Keep expanding & improving the icanmath worksheet generating software (and other apps), and make the system (for user-generated content, competing videos, software development, etc.) as automated & self-sustaining as possible.
